Man from New York dies after being caught in rip current at Outer Banks

A 75-year-old man died after getting caught in a rip current at the Outer Banks on Saturday.

HATTERAS, N.C. — A 75-year-old man died after getting caught in a rip current at the Outer Banks on Saturday.

Authorities say the man was with another person in the water near Hatteras Village when he became unconscious Saturday afternoon. A moderate rip current risk was forecast for all of the Outer Banks beaches on Saturday.

The swimmer's name has not been released. Officials said he is from New York.
