5th person arrested in death of Nash County man found in yard

According to investigators with the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Tony Maurice Braswell Jr., 21, was found by a family member with a gunshot wound to the chest at about 8 a.m. at a home at 13360 W. Old Spring Hope Road.

Nash County officials said Thursday that the fifth suspect, Shandon Lamond Perry, was arrested without incident

Perry was charged with one felony count of accessory before the fact to felony and one felony count of conceal of failure to notify death of a person. Officials said Perry was being held under a $50,000 secured bond and will appear in court on June 28,

Shannon Sentell Jones, 33, was charged with first degree murder in connection with the incident.

Mallory Nicole Johnson, 17, Madison Deann Johnson, 21, and Danny Womack, 21 were charged with accessory before the fact to a felony and failure to notify death of a person. Madison and Mallory Johnson were held under $25,000 secured bond while Womack was being held under $40,000 secured bond.

Jones, Mallory and Madison Johnson and Woman were all due in court on June 20.

Investigators have not released a motive for the shooting.

Neighbor Garry Perdue said he didn’t know Braswell personally, but remembers seeing him around the neighborhood and was surprised to wake up to find authorities at the home.

“It was mainly just a homicide investigation, a kid living across the street dead; really scary,” he said.
