MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Police are investigating after finding a body in a car that crashed into several cars in a Durham apartment parking lot Thursday morning.

Police were dispatched to Southern Oaks Apartments, on Hopson Road near Davis Drive, at 3:41 a.m. They found the driver, whose name hasn't been released, dead inside his car, which was on a sidewalk in the parking lot.

Police were listing the death as a "traffic fatality," but they haven't said what led up to the crash.

The man's body will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh to determine a cause of death.

The apartments have a Morrisville address, but they fall within Durham's city limits. Durham police are investigating the case with the assistance of the Durham County Sheriff's Office.
