Man found dead in street following Durham shooting

Durham police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday night.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday night.

Officers arrived in the 1000 block of Moreland Avenue just before 8 p.m. and found Jerome Bryant Jackson, 34, of Durham, lying outside with a gunshot wound.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident didn't appear to be random, according to investigators, but they released no details on a possible motive or suspects.

Moreland Avenue was closed near Morehead Avenue for several hours Tuesday night as authorities investigated.
