FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man died Sunday morning after his car crashed and caught fire in Fayetteville.

On Sunday at 3:03 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 7500 block of Stoney Point Drive after receiving a report of a car fire.

When they arrived, officers found a man dead in the car. The victim was identified as Justin Tyner, 34.

Emergency crews at the scene confirmed that the car hit a tree then burst into flames at least 30-feet high.

The fire was put out within a few minutes, according to fire responders.

Emergency responders said the man who died was the only person in the car.

The investigation is ongoing.
