Man fires shots, drives into deputy after being asked to leave Goldsboro club

A Goldsboro man is facing a long list of criminal charges after a night out went wrong.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro man is facing a long list of criminal charges after a night out went wrong.

At about 2 a.m., Di’Twan Shyheim Davis, 23, was asked to leave Morgans nightclub because of his role in a fight inside, according to police.

In the parking lot, Davis pulls a handgun from his trunk and fired several shots before getting into his vehicle. As he drove away, Davis hit a Wayne County sheriff's deputy and another man. He sped out of the lot, police said, then struck a telephone pole at the intersection of East Ash and Durant streets.

The man Davis hit, 24-year-old Devonte Duprel Jamaal Harris, of Goldsboro, was airlifted to Vidant Health in Greenville. Davis and the deputy were both treated for injuries at Wayne UNC Health and released.

Davis was taken into custody and charged with:

  • assault with a deadly weapon on a government official
  • felony serious injury by vehicle
  • felony hit and run causing serious injury/ death
  • possession of firearm by a convicted felon
  • possession of stolen firearm
  • reckless driving to endanger
  • driving while license revoked not impaired
  • discharge a firearm within the city limits along with other traffic infractions.

Davis was being held on $110,000.00 secured bond.
