Man fatally shot while driving in Fayetteville

A man was fatally shot while driving in Fayetteville on Thursday night, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man was fatally shot while driving in Fayetteville on Thursday night, police said.

Authorities responded to Cliffdale Road around 9:30 p.m. and found McKinley Summers Jr., 30, in a car with a gunshot wound.

Summers was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died.

Cliffdale Road was closed for about six hours while authorities investigated the homicide.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call Fayetteville Police Department at 910-729-2934 or Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477), which is offering up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
