A 24-year-old Angier man died early Sunday after he was shot at a large gathering in Bunnlevel, authorities said.

BUNNLEVEL, N.C. — A 24-year-old Angier man died early Sunday after he was shot at a large gathering in Bunnlevel, authorities said.

Harnett County deputies responded to a report of shots fired at 970 Sanderfer Road at about 1:20 a.m.. Shortly after they arrived, they learned that a man who had been shot had been dropped off at Central Harnett Hospital, in Lillington.

The wounded man, identified as Daniel Josiah Evans, died at about 1:40 a.m.

"This was not a random act, as the victim and his party were known to people at the gathering," the Harnett Conty Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
