Man Escapes From Sampson County Deputies
Authorities are searching for a man who fled on foot from the parking lot of the Sampson County Detention Center.

A deputy arrested Christopher Luis Maraquin, 17, of 70 Dusty Road, Clinton, Thursday afternoon for breaking and entering and larceny of motor vehicles. The deputy transported Maraquin to the magistrate's office to be formally charged.
While in the parking lot of the sheriff's office, Maraquin slipped away from the deputy, authorities said. He ran into a thick, wooded area behind the Sampson County Detention Center.
Authorities laid an additional charge of resiting, obstructing and delaying a public officer against Maraquin.
He is between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet tall and weighs 180 pounds.
