Wanted man surrenders after Goldsboro standoff
A man who barricaded himself inside a Goldsboro home ended a brief standoff Tuesday afternoon and surrendered to authorities.
Posted — UpdatedU.S. marshals went to a residence on Johnson Lane, near Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, to serve arrest warrants on Deanta Jamal Beamon at about 10:30 a.m., and he barricaded himself inside, police said.
Beamon, 28, was wanted on three counts of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, police said. The charges wereout of Pitt County.
Goldsboro police officers, including a SWAT unit, surrounded the home and asked nearby residents to remain inside their homes.
Police spoke with a man at the front door of the surrounded home multiple times. It was unclear if it was Beamon.
The standoff ended at about 1:40 p.m., when Beamon came out of the house with his hands up and surrendered to marshals.
