Man drowns in Spring Lake swimming hole
A man drowned while swimming with friends Saturday in a pond off N.C. Highway 210 in Spring Lake, police said.
Posted — UpdatedSPRING LAKE, N.C. — A man drowned while swimming with friends Saturday in a pond off N.C. Highway 210 in Spring Lake, police said.
Authorities got the call about someone missing in the water at about 2:30 p.m., and divers found the man about 15 feet from the shore, in about 10 feet of water, at about 5 p.m.
Friends on the scene told WRAL News that they did their best to help the man but were unable to save him.
Authorities were not releasing the man's identity or description until they could notify his family.
