Firefighters pull man, dog out of Durham home fire

A man and a dog are being treated after a home fire in Durham on Wednesday morning.

DURHAM, N.C. — A man and a dog are getting medical attention after a home fire in Durham on Wednesday morning.

The fire appeared to seriously burn the left side of the home, a duplex on the 1000 block of Colfax Street, around 2:30 a.m.

One man was helped out of the house by firefighters and taken to Duke University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The dog was also rescued and taken to a vet. Firefighters said the man and dog were in good condition.

Approximately 39 firefighters responded to the home, which had significant damage. The American Red Cross was contacted to help the two people who live at the duplex.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire. WRAL is working to learn more about this story.
