Man dies in shooting at Greenville airport
One man died Sunday in a shooting outside the main entrance to the Pitt-Greenville Airport terminal.
Posted — UpdatedGREENVILLE, N.C. — One man died Sunday in a shooting outside the main entrance to the Pitt-Greenville Airport terminal.
Greenville police responded around 6 a.m.
Joseph Pate, 52, of Beaufort County, suffered gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
John Reid, 49, of Grimesland, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. He was being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under no bond.
Pate and Reid knew each other, WITN reported.
The 11:00 a.m. flight departing the Pitt-Greenville Airport was canceled as a precaution for staff and customers. There is no ongoing threat to the public.
