Two 19-year-olds arrested in fatal Rocky Mount shooting

A 53-year-old man was killed in a homicide in Rocky Mount on Friday night, prompting the arrest of two men.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A 53-year-old man was killed in a homicide in Rocky Mount on the night of Friday, June 11. Two men have since been arrested.

Police found the man, Derrick Anthony Bryant, unresponsive with a gunshot wound at a home in the 600 block of Park Ave. around 10 p.m.

On Sunday, Anthony Horne was charged and arrested for Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and First Degree Murder. On Tuesday, Shyheem Smith was charged and arrested for First Degree Murder. Both men are 19 years old.

Horne is currently being held without bond at the Guilford County Jail in Greensboro. Smith is currently being held without bond in the Edgecombe County Detention facility.
