CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The father of a family injured in a head-on collision in Lee County over the weekend has died, officials said Wednesday.

A Chevrolet Blazer driven by Sebastian Talley crossed the center line of N.C. Highway 87 at Winstead Road on Saturday night and struck an oncoming Ford F250 pickup truck.

Wayne Fausz, 40, the driver of the pickup, died at UNC Hospitals, spokesman Tom Hughes said. He declined to say when Fausz died.

Two passengers in the pickup, Nathaniel Fausz, 15, and Autumn Fausz, 9, remain in the hospital. Nathaniel was listed in critical condition Wednesday, while Autumn was in good condition.

Natasha Fausz, 34, was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford after the wreck. Her condition is unknown.

Talley, of Cameron, died at the scene. Authorities said it appears he fell asleep while driving.
