Man critical after Rocky Mount shooting

A Rocky Mount man is in critical condition, and police are searching for a person of interest after a shooting early Friday.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Rocky Mount man is in critical condition, and police are searching for a person of interest after a shooting early Friday.

Police said that Desi Lerice Knight, 27, was shot at 442 Sled Court around 5:30 a.m. He left the scene and called police from the 1900 block of Boone Street.

Knight was taken to Nash General Hospital, then transferred to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Police want to talk Devares Dee Wilson, 28, about the shooting. He was last seen driving a brown 2002 Cadillac Deveille, with North Carolina license plate ZRB-2054.

The shooting remains under investigation.

A 17-year-old and 25-year-old man were shot to death early Thursday in an apartment on Boone Street, about a block away from where Knight was shot.
