Man charged with stealing from site of fatal house fire

A Henderson man faces charges that he stole items from a home where two children died in a November fire, police said Friday.

HENDERSON, N.C. — A Henderson man faces charges that he stole items from a home where two children died in a November fire, police said Friday.

Officers responded to a reported burglary at 132 S. Elizabeth St. on Thursday afternoon and arrested Quincy Fuller, 36, of 325 E. Montgomery St.. Fuller was charged with felony breaking and entering and was being held in the Vance County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

On Nov. 9, plastic bags of clothes near a bedroom space heater caught fire in the Elizabeth Street home. Twelve-year-old Abria Lewis and her 1-year-old brother, Joshua Chase Lewis, died in the fire, and two other children escaped the blaze.

After the arrest, police searched Fuller's home and found more than $2,000 in items that they believe are stolen. More charges are pending in the case.
