Man charged with stealing from lockers at Raleigh gyms

A Raleigh man was arrested Wednesday night in connection with the theft of credit cards and cash from lockers at several local gyms, police said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man was arrested Wednesday night in connection with the theft of credit cards and cash from lockers at several local gyms, police said.

Dapo Ayo Taiwo, 44, of 921 Wake Town Drive, was charged with several counts of identity theft, financial card theft and financial card fraud.

Police said they have linked Taiwo to the following thefts:

  • Jan. 8 at Lifetime Fitness, 601 E. Six Forks Road
  • Jan. 11 at Fitness Connection, 6240 Glenwood Ave.
  • Jan. 26-27 at the A.E. Finley YMCA, 9216 Baileywick Road
  • Jan. 29 at Rex Wellness Center, 4200 Lake Boone Trail

The stolen credit cards were used to make thousands of dollars' worth of fraudulent purchases, police said.
