Man charged with over a dozen crimes led Raleigh police on chase

A man accused of over a dozen crimes, including slamming into police cars then leading officers on a chase from Garner to Raleigh, is expected to be in court Monday.

A man accused of over a dozen crimes, including slamming into police cars then leading officers on a chase from Garner to Raleigh, is expected to be in court Monday.

Police said 27-year-old Joshua Bibey was arrested Friday.
The Garner Police Department said officers responded to an automated license plate reader hit notification at the Chipotle on Eagle Wing Way Thursday which indicated the car was stolen.

When officers arrived, police said the suspect jumped into the vehicle and hit several cars in the parking lot including officer patrol cars. Police said Bibey also nearly collided with officers who were standing in the parking lot.

Investigators then said a chase started through Raleigh before it was called off.

Police said once Bibey was identified, warrants were obtained on Bibey for Assault with a Deadly Weapon on Government Official, Fleeing to Elude, Hit and Run, Littering, Driving While License Revoked, Possession of Stolen Property, Display of a Fictitious Registration Plate, Window Tint Violation, and Resist/Delay/Obstruction of an investigation.

He was arrested Friday.

Police said the total charges filed against Bibey were as follows:

  • Larceny After Break/Enter (Johnston County) (5 counts)
  • Littering not > 15 lbs (Johnston County)
  • Failure to Appear (FTA)- DWI
  • FTA-Possession of Firearm by felon
  • FTA-PWISD Marijuana, possession of stolen Firearm
  • FTA- Resist Public Officer (2 counts)
  • Misdemeanor Probation Violation
  • FTA-PV Hearing
  • Injury to Real Property
  • Assault w/ Deadly Weapon Government Official (2 counts)
  • Possession of Firearm by Felon
  • Assault w/ Deadly Weapon (4 counts)
  • Discharge Firearm in city
  • Flee/elude arrest w/MV
  • Hit & Run fail to stop prop damage (2 counts)
  • Resisting Public Officer
  • Possession of stolen goods/property
  • Larceny of a Firearm (Johnston County) (7 counts)
  • Break and or Entering (Johnston County) (6 counts)
