Man charged with murder in southeast Raleigh shooting

A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a Raleigh man earlier this month.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a Raleigh man earlier this month.

Authorities said Gregory Leon Palmer Sr., 46, was found lying in the middle of Savannah Drive just after 4 p.m. on April 10.

Palmer, who was shot multiple times, was taken to WakeMed, where he died Monday as a result of his injuries.

Kiante Lewis Evans was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and murder in connection with the shooting.

He was being held at the Wake County Detention Center Monday night.

Police said Evans and Palmer knew each other and the shooting was not a random incident.
