BISCOE, N.C. — Authorities have identified a man who was shot and killed in Moore County on Thursday night.

Deputies said they were called to the intersection of N.C. Highway 24 and Tarry Church Road in Biscoe for a report of a man in the road with multiple traumatic injuries.

On Friday, deputies identified the man as Bernabe Bello Mujica. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the cause of death for Mujica, who was 44 years old and lived in Biscoe.

Mujica died at the scene.

Alan Shamon Thomas was charged with murder in connection with the death. Thomas and Mujica knew each other, according to deputies, and the death was not a random act of violence.

Thomas will make an appearance in Moore County District Court next week.
