Man charged with embezzlement turns self in

Goldsboro police on Wednesday charged a 24-year-old man with embezzlement after he turned himself in.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Goldsboro police on Wednesday charged a 24-year-old man with embezzlement after he turned himself in.

Douglas Arden Niemond, no address given, is accused of stealing controlled substances from packages that were being shipped from a UPS facility on Industry Court in Goldsboro. Niemond was employed at the facility in December 2011, when the theft reports were filed.

He turned himself in at the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office and was charged with two felony counts of embezzlement. He was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.

Niemond is scheduled for a first court appearance Thursday.
