Man charged with assaulting woman at party

— A 42-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a 28-year-old woman during an altercation at party at 10627 Old Stage Road around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.

The woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Johnston Memorial Hospital, said Phyllis Stephens, spokeswoman for the Wake County Sheriff's Office. Additional details about the assault weren't available.

Alexander Graham, of 5075 North Hills Road in Raleigh, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

He was being held in the Wake County Jail Sunday under a $15,000 bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday.

Graham has twice been sentenced to probation after being convicted of assault with a deadly weapon, most recently in 2007, according to state Department of Correction records. He served 10 years of a maximum 30-year sentence after being convicted in 1991 of two counts each of second-degree kidnapping and common-law robbery.
