Man charged with arson following fire abandoned Fayetteville motel

Fayetteville, N.C. — A man has been charged with arson in connection with a fire at the vacant Boulevard Motel early Wednesday morning.
Officials responded to the motel, located at 4309 Bragg Boulevard, around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday The hotel was not occupied and, according to people who live nearby, it has been closed for months.
Diquan Jerel McCullough, 25, of the 200 block of Murray Fork Drive, was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree arson and three counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the fire.
No one was present at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. A fire chief told WRAL firefighters had to break down a fence to get to the abandoned building.
McCullough was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $1 million bond.
