Man charged in two Fayetteville bank robberies
A Spring Lake man was arrested Thursday night in connection with two recent bank robberies in Fayetteville, police said Friday.
Posted — UpdatedWilliam Alexander Douglas, 38, of 1401 Kenneth Drive, was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count each of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling to sell or deliver marijuana. He was being held in the Cumberland County jail under a $115,000 secured bond.
Douglas is charged with robbing First South Bank, at 705 Executive Place, on Dec. 4 and a First Citizens Bank branch at 3604 Ramsey St. on Dec. 12. Police said officers found drugs and a handgun at his house when he was arrested.
