GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Goldsboro man was arrested Friday in connection with a fatal shooting in the city a week ago, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1500 block of Edgerton Street at about 10 p.m. on Sept. 27 and found Terrance Ryan Drakeford and a young girl wounded, police said.

Drakeford, 42, of Goldsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene. The girl was taken to Wayne UNC Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

A second man, Tyriek Langston, went to the hospital that night in a personal vehicle for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries from the shooting, police said.

Investigators determined Langston, 18, of Fussell Street, was the gunman in the incident, and he was charged with first-degree murder. He was being held without bond in the Wayne County jail.

Police said the shooting remains under investigation, and more arrests are expected.
