FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 20-year-old Fayetteville man surrendered to police Wednesday in connection with a stabbing death on Southwood Drive Tuesday afternoon.

Givonno Carter faces first-degree murder charges.

Shortly after 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to a stabbing on the 1200 block of Southwood Drive. Meanwhile, the victim, 23-year-old Joshua Charles Walker, was dropped off at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

It wasn't clear who dropped him off.

Police say Carter fled the scene on foot after stabbing Walker.

He was being held Wednesday in the Cumberland County jail.
