FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting early Tuesday at Sports Fan Grill & Pub, 3360 Village Drive.

Michael Edward McCloskey, 32, of 16 Briar Circle, is accused of shooting William Arthur Kraai, 39, in the torso at about 1:35 a.m.

Kraai was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital and was pronounced dead at about 1:50 a.m., police said.

According to witnesses, an argument between McCloskey and Kraai escalated to the point where McCloskey shot Kraai and then fled on foot, police said.

Officers found McCloskey a short time later at the corner of Village and Ireland drives and charged him with first-degree murder. He was being held in the Cumberland County Jail with no bond.
