— Police were searching Monday for a man who robbed a credit union in Durham last week.

A man entered the State Employees Credit Union at 3808 Guess Road at about 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 9, police said. He had a large handgun and demanded money from bank personnel, police said.

James Branson Mainor Jr., 29, of Lorain Avenue, has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen goods and possession of a stolen firearm in connection with the robbery. But he wasn't in custody Monday.

Anyone with information on Mainor’s whereabouts is asked to call Investigator J.P. Carnevale of the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4582, extension 227, or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.
