Man caught on camera using phony credit card at Fayetteville gas station

Authorities said the man cloned a bank card and used the victim's account to make several purchases in Fayetteville. Card cloning is the process by which someone obtains credit card details through skimming and copies them onto a bogus card.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man accused of making several purchases with a cloned credit card.

Authorities said the man cloned a bank card and used the victim’s account to make several purchases in Fayetteville. Card cloning is the process by which someone obtains credit card details through skimming and copies them onto a bogus card.

The man was captured on surveillance cameras using the phony card at a Kangaroo Store at 1899 Skibo Road. The victim’s account also showed fraudulent activity at Champs Sports in the Cross Creek Mall, The Cracker Barrel on Jim Johnson Road and Chick-fil-A on Raeford Road.
