ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police arrested a 59-year-old man Wednesday afternoon after a road-rage incident along North Wesleyan Boulevard in which one driver pointed a gun at another.

Luther Bullock told police that another driver cut him off repeatedly when he tried to pass him while going north on Wesleyan Boulevard around 3:15 p.m. The men cursed at each other, then the other driver pulled out a gun and pointed it at Bullock, police said.

Bullock described the other vehicle to police, and officers stopped a vehicle driven by Michael Smith.

Police said they found a .32-caliber handgun in Smith's front left pocket and two other handguns in his vehicle.

Smith was charged with assault by pointing a gun and carrying a concealed weapon. He was given a $5,000 unsecured bond.
