Hillsborough, N.C. — Investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a man Friday after they say he stole a vehicle and led them on a high-speed chase.
Cameron Horne, 32, of Hillsborough, allegedly broke into an occupied residence in Cedar Grove at approximately 11 p.m. last night and left with three sets of keys, a pair of boots, and a 2004 yellow Jeep Wrangler.
Investigators saw the vehicle on Friday, driven by Horne, on Highway 70 near St. Mary’s Road. When they attempted to stop the Jeep, Horne fled at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle about two miles away. The Jeep flipped onto its side and knocked over a stop sign.
EMS transported Horne to UNC Hospital in Hillsborough for observation. A deputy is standing by, waiting to take Horne into custody upon his discharge. He faces the following charges: first degree burglary, larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and felony flee to elude.
