SANFORD, N.C. — A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting last week at a birthday party in Sanford, police said Saturday.

Dominique Devonn Williams, 20, of Raleigh, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and was being held at the Lee County Jail under a no-bond order, authorities said in a written statement. He was expected to appear in court on July 2 for a first appearance hearing.

Travis Jamarian Mclean, 27, of Sanford, was shot in the chest on June 24 at a party being held at the Sanford Latin Dance Studio, located at 109 S. Steele Street.

McLean was rushed for medical care to Central Carolina Hospital, where he died. At least six other people ranging from age 24 to 41 were treated for gunshot wounds to the legs, hands, feet and arms, police said.

Police have not said what prompted the fight that led to the gunfire.
