Man arrested in connection with downtown Raleigh shooting

A man was charged in a shooting from Wednesday in a Raleigh neighborhood.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man was charged in a shooting from Wednesday in a Raleigh neighborhood.

Christopher Gilmore was charged with Assault With a Dangerous Weapon With Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Shooting Into an Occupied Property, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon in connection with this incident. Gilmore turned 30 on Thursday.

Christopher Gillmore was dealt several charges in connection with Wednesday night's shooting.

The man who was shot was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Around 9:55 p.m., Raleigh Police responded to the 700 block of Ellington Street, near Shaw University and the Raleigh Convention Center. Police found the man with a gunshot wound.

Officers and detectives were on the scene for more than five hours conducting a follow-up investigation.
