GARNER, N.C. — Garner police say they have arrested a man suspected of shooting into a home in 2009 and attempting to rob the residents.

Gilbert Travis Lorfils, 27, of 3229-I Calumet Drive, was arrested Saturday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by a felon, disorderly conduct, assault on a female, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The charges stem from an incident on July 1, 2009, when a man told police that someone tried to rob him outside his apartment at 122-A Shady Lawn Court, then shot at him when he ran inside.

Two other suspects, Jasmine Lashay Lassiter, 16, and Tasheona Dane Sanders, 16, were arrested shortly after the incident and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Lorfils was the third suspect wanted in connection with the incident, police said.

Lorfils was also charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling in connection with an incident at 121-E Shady Lawn Court, also on July 1, 2009, according to arrest warrants.

Lorfils was being held Saturday in the Wake County jail under a $50,000 bond.

Anyone with additional information about the incidents is asked to call the Garner police at 919-772-8810.

Lorfils served a little less than two years in prison for 2001 convictions for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and violating probation stemming from 2000 convictions for selling drugs, according to state Department of Correction records.
