Friday is now a WRAL Weather Alert Day. Parts of Hoke, Cumberland and Sampson counties are under a level 2 risk for storms Friday afternoon and evening. The biggest threat will be damaging winds and heavy rain, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out in our southern counties. The storms are expected to impact these areas from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wayne Ryan Howlett, 29, was arrested for armed robbery.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — Wayne Ryan Howlett, 29, was arrested for armed robbery in connection with the Jan.  17 robbery of the Community Mart at 210 E. Bragg St. in Raleigh. He was also charged in a Jan. 9 robbery of the Sphinx Exxon store at 3600 Capital Blvd.

Police credited tips from the public as instrumental in the arrest.
