Man arrested for shooting into SUV, causing crash near Raleigh bar

Police have made an arrest after a man fired shots into a vehicle on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police have made an arrest after a man fired shots into a vehicle on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh.

The shots were fired from a parking lot near Bar 7 Sports Bar around 2 a.m. Saturday, according to Raleigh police.

Matthew Wright was charged with two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle.

Detectives learned that two people were in an SUV when Wright began shooting at them from another vehicle. While trying to avoid gunfire , the driver of the SUV crashed, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The shots were fired near Bar 7 Sports Bar on New Bern Ave. in Raleigh.

Officers found the SUV upside down with bullet holes.

No one was hurt.
