Man arrested for shooting at Moore deputies
Moore County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Tuesday who they say shot at law enforcement officers in March.
Posted — UpdatedJACKSON SPRINGS, N.C. — Moore County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Tuesday who they say shot at law enforcement officers in March.
Sheriff Lane Carter said Garland Wayne Bass, 61, of 2305 Flowers Road in Jackson Springs, fired on deputies, a social worker and a neighbor on March 7. Bass was injured in the shootout, but no one else was hurt.
Bass faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill on a law enforcement officer and assault by pointing a gun. He was being held at Central Prison in Raleigh where he was being treated for his injuries under at $1 million secured bond.
