Fayetteville man arrested for murder of co-worker outside Sanford restaurant

Deputies on Tuesday were investigating after a body was found outside a popular restaurant in Lee County.

SANFORD, N.C. — A man was found shot and killed Tuesday outside a popular restaurant in Lee County.

On Wednesday, the Lee County Sheriff's Office announced Ar’mon Mandrell Jones was taken into custody for the murder of Calvin Richard Lester, Jr. An investigation found that Jones and Lester worked at the Caterpillar facility down the road.

Deputies around 7:30 a.m. responded to Fat Juniors Grill, located at 4900 Womack Road in Sanford.

The 25-year-old Lester., of Carthage, was found dead in the parking lot.

Jones, from Fayetteville, was placed into the Lee County Jail under no bond. A motive for the shooting is not known.

The restaurant was closed at the time of the shooting.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office said, "The incident that occurred today does not involve employees or owners of the grill."

Fat Juniors posted on Facebook Tuesday, "Thank you everyone for your concern. We are all ok but please pray for the family of the victim."

Detectives were previously looking for a dark four-door Toyota Camry with front end damage.
