Man arrested following robberies at Raleigh gas station, Dollar Tree

Raleigh police were investigating after they said someone robbed a store on Saturday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have arrested a man in connection with the robberies of two stores on Saturday.

On Saturday, police responded to an attempted robbery of the Citgo Gas Station in the 2600 block of Lake Wheeler Road. They also responded to an armed robbery call at the Dollar Tree at 2703 Lake Wheeler Rd. in Raleigh. Both calls came in after 5 p.m.

Officials said a man showed a knife during the robbery of the Dollar Tree and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. There was a chase on foot and the suspect was caught just before 5:40 p.m.

Police arrested Johnathon Cicero McGraw, 19. He is charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, robbery with a dangerous weapon and masked public appearance.

Officials stayed on the scene to collect evidence and to get more information.
