FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Hope Mills police have arrested a man after a video posted on social media recorded a white customer yelling racial slurs at a Black Food Lion employee on Thursday, the Fayetteville Observer reports.

On Monday, police arrested Eric Shane Cahoon, 41. He is charged with one count of ethnic intimidation, disorderly conduct by abusive language, communicating threats, intoxicated and disruptive behavior and second-degree trespassing.

The incident was captured on video by a customer inside the Food Lion on Hope Mills Road. During the three-minute encounter, the customer calls the employee a racist term several times as he is led away by his co-workers.

Food Lion store manager Brandon Tumblin said he was not authorized to talk about the incident with reporters. Matt Harakal, External Communications Manager decline to speak regarding the incident and referred all questions to Hope Mills Police Department on Monday.

Cahoon was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center with bail set at $1,000.
