RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested a man after a high-speed chase on Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 70 from Garner to Cary Sunday evening.

The pursuit began around U.S. Highway 70 and Loop Road in Garner after Germaine Levell Brown, 31, refused to pull over for authorities. Raleigh police were seeking Brown after he threatened deadly violence against others, spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the pursuit, which was monitored closely by on-duty commanders and supervisors, Sughrue said.

The pursuit ended shortly before 6 p.m. when authorities halted Brown’s vehicle on I-40, near N.C. Highway 54. Brown was taken into custody without further incident, Sughrue said.

There were no reports of injuries or vehicular wrecks related to the pursuit.

Brown was charged with three counts of violating a domestic-violence order, second-degree trespassing, injury to real property and fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle. He was placed in the Wake County Jail and scheduled for a first court appearance on Monday.

He was released on Oct. 27 after serving a one-month prison sentence for violating a protective order and a probation revocation, according to state Department of Correction records.

Brown's criminal record, which dates to 1994, includes multiple convictions for communicating threats and making harassing phone calls, DOC records show. He has also been convicted of assault on a female and possessing a weapon on campus.
