RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police said Wednesday that a man has been arrested in connection with a double shooting Tuesday night in which a person was killed.

Eric Raymond Chambers, 33, has been charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, police said in a written statement. He was being held Wednesday at the Wake County Detention Center. It was not immediately clear if bond was set.

Police were called to the Knights Inn hotel at 3804 New Bern Avenue just before 10 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found Davelle Shaunduke McMoore, 23, and Terry Vernette Blossom, 53, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were rushed for medical treatment to WakeMed, where McMoore was pronounced dead. Blossom was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The hotel was closed off to the public as police investigated the area.

Police say Chambers was out on probation when the shooting took place. His criminal history includes weapon and larceny charges.
