Man arrested, 2 others on the loose after Apex break-ins lead to police chase, car chase

Police in Apex are searching for two men after a chase early Tuesday.

APEX, N.C. — Police in Apex are searching for two men after a chase early Tuesday.

Before 3 a.m., officers with the Apex Police Department responded to the Harbor Haven subdivision, where three men were accused of breaking into area cars.

When officers tried to stop the men, they fled the scene in their car. According to officials, a chase ensued.

Police say the men slowed the car and jumped out, but their car kept moving, hitting an officer's SUV near Whiston Drive and Bramhall Court.

One of the men, 30-year-old Jonathan Lewis of Durham, was taken into custody, but the two others fled the scene on foot. No officers were injured, and the SUV sustained minor damages to the bumper.
