SAINT PAUL, MINN. — A woman was stabbed and killed by her husband at bible study, according to documents.

WCCO-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota, reports Corinna Woodhull, 41, overcame addiction and depression, but she could not survive domestic violence.

According to court documents, Woodhull and her husband, Robert Castillo, were sitting together at a weekly bible study. Witnesses then described Castillo whispering something to Woodhull, who they said shook her head. Castillo then pulled out a knife and stabbed her, according to reports.

Witnesses told investigators the two did have marital problems but it seemed they were getting along.

Woodhull is survived by her five children, but she also leaves behind a community of recovering addicts who described her as an inspiration and beacon of hope.

"It hurts to sit here and talk about her not being here," said Phil Tyler, the founder of Against All Odds Ministries.

Tyler said the group was made better because of Woodhull's enthusiastic attendance.

He shared Woodhull's own words she offered to the group, which were, "God has restored my life from the ground up, into freedom, redemption and forgiveness. Made depression into hope, made despair into redemption. Turned my pain into purpose."

"It's powerful," Tyler said. "It takes courage to get out of our comfort zone sometimes, and I always tell people, your story can change people's life ... Corinna treated people with love and encouragement and was a beacon of hope for people."

No additional details about the knife attack were provided.
