RALEIGH, N.C. — As the Beltline widening project continues in Raleigh, a ramp closure at a major intersection starting Friday night could impact your weekend drive.

Crews are preparing to build a new flyover bridge at I-440 and Wade Avenue.

As part of that project, they are closing the ramp from eastbound Wade Avenue to I-440 Eastbound starting at 9 p.m. on Friday.

Crews will build a temporary loop that will open by Tuesday evening – but between now and then, expect a detour using Wade Avenue to Faircloth Street, which will take you to Hillsborough Street and back to I-440 East.

Plus, there's another ramp closure at that interchange to keep in mind: The ramp from I-440 East to Wade Avenue will close Monday at 5 a.m.  and stay closed until Tuesday evening.

So, for your Monday and Tuesday commutes, expect a detour using Lake Boone to I-440 West, then outbound Wade Avenue.

You'll head down to the Blue Ridge Road exit to get to inbound Wade Avenue.
