<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — A large water main break has closed North Roxboro Street between Fairfield Street and Horton Road, close to Holt Elementary School.

Buckets of water were gushing down the roadway after a 12-inch pipe burst after 3 a.m., crews at the scene told WRAL News.

Workers said repairs could take at least eight hours -- most of the day.

Water pressure issues were being reported in the area, and parking lots off North Roxboro Street were inaccessible.

According to WRAL's Brian Shrader, Duke Street is the best alternate route.
