But, Santos, the mom of three adult daughters who lives in Franklinton with her husband on a small hobby farm, has a new venture - Misty Mountain Made NC. Here's a Q&A with Santos, who is part of our 2018 Made by Mom Gift Guide.

Go Ask Mom: How did you get started?
Misty Santos: I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and have previously operated small businesses with my daughters. I actually got started with Misty Mountain Made NC when I purchased a Dremel rotary tool to do my dog's nails. I quickly realized there are a ton of cool things you can do with a Dremel. The first thing I did was to etch our farm logo onto a glass for my husband. He loved it and suggested I start an Etsy shop and it hasn't stopped since then.

GAM: What all do you offer? What's your most popular piece?
MS: I offer hand etched (no chemicals, or laser engravers) drink ware....wine glasses, cocktail glasses beer mugs, pilsner glasses, water bottles and coffee cups. I also offer personalized Santa cookie plates, hot chocolate mugs, and pie plates with family recipes etched on. My most popular items are movie-inspired sets of wine glasses such as Elf, Harry Potter, The Princess Bride and Hocus Pocus.

GAM: What do you enjoy most about your work?
MS: I love creating the design and the sense of accomplishment I have as I sit and work on a glass and see the design come together.
GAM: What's been the biggest challenge?
MS: Keeping enough glasses in stock and getting great product photos.
GAM: How can people find you?
MS: I will be at Sanderson's Holly Days Market on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. You also can find me on Etsy at www.mistymountainmadenc.etsy.com.
