Andrea Ginsberg, owner of The Mad Popper in Durham, tells me that she's starting up a summer time program for young popcorn lovers.
Junior Mad Popper Workshops are for kids ages 4 to 7. They are on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at the shop at  The Homestead Market Shopping Center, 105 W NC 54, Suite 259, in Durham. I featured The Mad Popper last year.

Kids will learn about different types of popcorn and why they pop; discover how the strawberry popcorn is made; and make their own bag of cheese popcorn. A snack and take home treat are included.

The workshop runs about 45 minutes. Parents are asked to stay in the shop. The cost is $7 per child.

There are 10 spots available in each workshop so it's best to call the store or stop by to register. Walk-ins are welcome if there is space. The next one is Wednesday, June 11.

The Mad Popper is nut free and the popcorn flavors being made during the workshop are gluten free.

Sounds like fun! That's some delicious popcorn!
