My six-year-old son is my best eater. I’ve talked about him before. He may be my best eater, but about 20 percent of the food ends up on him and around him. He stuffs it in his face and it just comes out everywhere. He eats or tries everything I give him. He likes almost everything, except sautéed spinach. My oldest digs it, especially with a little vinegar.
Anyway, when we were at the beach last week, we ate a lot of seafood as we usually do at the beach. That’s one thing we can all agree on. One night we had steamed clams. I thought my son was going to crawl on the table and get in the bucket with the clams and a little bowl of melted butter! He couldn’t get enough! And the rest of us couldn’t get any. OK, we got a few, but he got the bulk of them. We only had two dozen that night. Caid probably had a little more than a dozen.
The next night, he BEGGED for more clams. Seriously, he begged. The big R (my husband) obliged and bought not two, but three dozen this time. We steamed ‘em and set them in front of my son. Then Randall and I went to dinner (wooohooo date night) while my mom watched the kids. When we got back, we inquired about Caiden’s clam-stravaganza. My mom said he ate them. ALL OF THEM! All three dozen! That’s 36 steamed clams, if my math is correct. And a hot dog to top it off!
The kid’s gonna be bleeding melted butter…
